Coffee Shops & Cafes in the Twin Cities

When you meet up with a friend, have work/homework, or just want a place to chill, you most likely would go to a coffee shop. If you’re getting sick of the same old things, check out this list of unique Coffee Shops and Cafes in, and around the Twin Cities.

Nina’s Coffee Cafe

Location: 165 Western Ave N, St Paul, MN 55102

What they offer: One of the most unique and creative interiors a coffee shop could have. A miniature Statue of Liberty, high ceilings, unique wallpaper, and a chill atmosphere.  A menu filled with breakfast and lunch sandwiches and light snacks. Many different coffee options to choose from with a bunch of different flavor shots.

What I love: The Cheese Quiche, the Croissant Sandwich, the Mocha.

Wilde Roast Café

Location: 65 SE Main St, Minneapolis, MN 55414

What they offer: A gelato bar, dessert bar, a two page menu of coffee options (on top of that a whole book for drinks), and menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They describe their food as “creative comfort food”, and there is something for everyone. The vibe is quite relaxed with a sitting area by a fireplace, and a peacock wallpaper. They also are on the St. Anthony main and have an outdoor deck.

What I love: The Raspberry White Chocolate Mocha, the Humus Platter, their Gelato, Berry Crème Brule.

Spyhouse Coffee

Location(s): Northeast 945 Broadway St NE
Minneapolis, MN 55413, Uptown- 2404 Hennepin Ave S
Minneapolis, MN 55405

What they offer: An extensive list of coffee drinks, teas, steamers, and a few lemonades. If you visit the Northeast location make sure to check out the hallway in the back… it’s a great surprise. 🙂

What I love: The Spygirl- a latte with honey and lavender, and the Jasmine Lemonade.

Black: Coffee and Waffle Bar

Location: 1500 Como Ave SE, Minneapolis, MN 55414

What they offer: Got a craving for some waffles and coffee? A menu consisting just that is what Black is all about. Already very popular, but still worth a visit. It’s not super big inside so make sure you go either before, or after the time you would typically eat, or else you might be standing for a while.

What I love: The Strawberry Cheesecake Waffle, Naughty Waffle, their Mocha.

Empire Coffee + Pastry

Location: 451 Stinson Blvd, Minneapolis, MN 55413

What they offer:  A great list of pastries and sandwiches, and your basic coffee and teas. The exterior looks to be a mechanic garage, which is what initially brought me to it. The inside is all renovated with white walls, an open view to the kitchen, and plants on every table. The food is made fresh.

What I love: Iced Rhubarb Tea Lemonade

All of these places are affordable and have great backgrounds for taking great pictures!
